Wallcovering and paper in Nashville
Artis Wallcovering preps the wall, pastes, trims and hangs wallpaper, grasscloth and murals in Nashville houses, for homeowners and for the designers who specify the paper.

Install day
One planned day for a room. The order never changes, and nothing is pasted until the wall is ready.

We check for old paper, a glossy finish and damp, then fill, sand and prime so the paste holds and the paper can come down cleanly one day.

Nonwoven paper is pasted on the wall; traditional paper is pasted, folded and rested for as long as the maker says. We read the data sheet before we mix.

At the ceiling, baseboard and casing we cut to the line with a straightedge and a fresh blade, and the power is off before we go near an outlet.

The first drop goes against the plumb line. Each one after it is matched at the seam, smoothed from the center out and wiped as we go.
To the trade
Send the repeat, the width and the delivery date. We measure the wall, open the rolls when they arrive, and hold an install day that fits your schedule.
What we hang
Printed, nonwoven and pre-pasted paper in powder rooms, bedrooms, halls and dining rooms.
Seams that show by design, hung with a plan for the direction and shading of each drop.
Scenic panels and wall murals, numbered and laid out on the floor before they go up.
Old paper off, the wall skimmed and sealed, ready for new paper or for paint.
Vinyl wallcovering for reception rooms and dining rooms, scheduled outside trading hours.
Choosing a paper
The paper decides how the wall is prepared, how it is pasted and how it comes down again.

Who is on your wall
Owner and master paperhanger
Walks every wall before the quote is written, and hangs the two drops that decide a room: the first and the last.
Lead installer
Hangs grasscloth and murals, and lays out every drop on paper before a roll is cut.
Wall prep and paint
Skims, sands and primes the walls, and paints trim and ceilings to match when a room needs it.
Estimates and samples
Takes the measurements, works out the roll count and keeps the sample shelf designers borrow from.
After the install
“Elouise found that the wall was out of plumb before a roll was cut. The paper meets at every seam, even around the window.”
“Two rolls came from different dye lots. They caught it the day the paper arrived and called me before a drop went up.”
“One day, the floors covered, and the dining room was swept when they left.”

Where we hang
Most installs are in Davidson County. We also go to a few towns on its edges for whole rooms and designer projects.
We don't travel to Memphis, Chattanooga or Knoxville, and we don't take a single room more than an hour from the shop.
ZIP codes: 37203, 37204, 37205, 37206, 37207, 37209, 37211, 37212, 37215, 37216
Before you call
A powder room or a small bath is usually one day. A dining room, a hall or a stairwell can take two. The written quote gives a range of days, not a promised date.
Only over a sound, clean surface. We check for old paper, a glossy finish and damp first, because paper over a damp or loose wall lifts at the seams.
You or your designer can, or we can order it. Either way the quote shows the roll count and the extra the repeat needs, and we open the rolls on arrival.
Federal rules (the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule) apply to paid work that disturbs paint in homes and child-occupied buildings built before 1978. Taking old paper off or sanding a wall can disturb paint, so tell us the age of the house when you call and we will ask again at the wall check. The firm's certification number is on the Credentials list, and terms for any work on an older house are in your written quote.
It depends on the walls, the paper and what the wall needs first. The pricing page shows what moves the number, and the quote is in writing.
A few lines and a photo are enough for a first answer. The wall check comes after.
